Meanwhile, In Productive Town....

Ok, so I think I've figured out what I want to do as a final project. Here's the general story, let me know what you think, or if you've had a similar experience.

A awkward looking kid is sitting on a bus, he's not creepy, just innocent looking. He overhears a girl in front of him talking to her friend about what she wants in a man. She wants someone good looking, spontaneous, friendly, etc. He gives this some pause, she gets off the bus, and he runs to catch the door to follow her. He catches up to her and explains that he heard everything she said. He believes that he is the right guy for her. He is healthy, good with people, and wants a caring relationship. His little brother looks up to him, he cares about social issues like Darfur, and can lift 200 pounds. He likes all kinds of music. The girl is taken aback, she tells him that it was all talk, she doesn't even know him. He pauses, realizing that he's made a fool of himself, she see's this, and asks him if he's going in her direction. "No", he says, referring to both her and the bus he prematurely got off of, "I'll wait for the next one".

Oliver, I think this initial idea has potential. I like the way you are working with conventions and then taking them in an unexpected direction. Run with it. I think the strongest part of the idea is the fact that what we think is going to happen doesn't. I would suggest really trying to build the male character, perhaps even working with stereotypes so that his end decision comes as an even greater surprise to the viewer.

Really, I think this piece has a great amount of potential on it's shoulders, I'd figure with a piece like this one it really all depends on the overall message that is being sent, especially through the dialog , I can see a piece like this that can help propel the story forward into what your trying to say about current event and what not. You know Social commentary, so yea! it works!
